Our History
Cornerstone International School
Every organisation, business and institution has a story, and ours is no different. The breakdown of our history is pretty simple. We were founded by a teacher who had the idea and inspiration of a better form of education for children in port harcourt, his name? Mr. Augustine Smith. You see, he was a teacher for a very long time (very, very, very very long time) having spells as a teacher in numerous Port Harcourt public and private schools e.g. BANHAM, BERETON MONTESSORI etc. After a while, he decide to get into the private school thing himself.

Cornerstone was established and licensed in 1996 as a private school. You see unlike other private schools in the city that were financed by Kings, Queens, Churches, Government etc., we had no financial backing at the start. Just a teacher and his dream of establishing the best private school in the city for children from all economic, religious and financial walks of life. Today, Cornerstone is one of the highest ranked schools academically and in every other area not only in the state but in the country too.

2021-PRESENT
Secondary School Moved
Our Secondary school after many years of being at our Industry Road Location was then moved to join up with the Nursery/Primary school at our Marine Base campus.

1999-2003
Industry Road
Cornerstone moved from the red cross headquarters to what will come to be known for many years as our Secondary School location for a brief period. At this point our growth was evident and the demand for more space grew. We now had a pre-nursery, a nursery and a primary school..
2004-PRESENT
Secondary School Established
From 2004, we were finally licensed by the Federal Ministry of Education to operate a secondary school as the demand from our students and parents had grown significantly. Cornerstone International Secondary School (CISS) was finally commissioned.
2003-PRESENT
Marine Base
Cornerstone Nursery/Primary then moved from our Industry Road location to its present location for many years at Marine Base Road, PH.

1996-1999
Red Cross PH Headquarters
Cornerstone was founded in 1996 by our founder and executive director, Mr. Augustine Smith; after his long spell as a teacher. We started off as a nursery school with just a handful of children and was located in a small space within the Red Cross headquarters at Industry Road where our director was once a treasurer.
